For both Ski and climbing expedition, Mera Peak is one and only option for all year destination. With height of 6,456m, It is hub for adventure activities. The combined form of trekking (6-7 days), climbing and skiing is probably the rare destination in the world with such a perfect altitude. The complexity and technically it is very save and easy to climb.

The Sherpas fix the rope between high camps to Summit, which plays a big role for your safety. And also there is no ladder to cross and very less crevasses. This is what makes Mera Peak welcome all variety of climbers, those who have little climbing experience or zero, but needs to follow your guide instructions while climbing. Those who are new in mountaineering can start their climbing carrier from this mountain as well. It teaches on how to use climbing devices, how to walk in mountain and how to acclimatize in high altitude. It may play big role for future climbing projects.

Being as a highest trekking peak of Nepal, It is one of the best for ski mountaineering. If you are a professional skier and snowboard instructor you can bring a pair of ski and snowboard for the unlimited thrilling experiences. Basic climbing techniques are necessaries. And you must have proper climbing gears and equipment. Before going Everest or any other 8,000m+ mountain you can climb Mera Peak. It helps for better acclimatization and climbing techniques.

Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel
  • Day 02: Climbing gear check and trip preparation
  • Day 03: Fly to Lukla and trek to Paiya (Chutok) (2,730m/8,956ft): 40 mins flight, 5-6 hours trek
  • Day 04: Trek from Paiya to Panggom (2,846m/9,337ft): 5-6 hours
  • Day 05: Trek from Panggom to Ningsow (2,863m/9,393ft): 4-5 hours
  • Day 06: Trek from Ningsow to ChhatraKhola (2,800m/9,186ft): 7-8 hours
  • Day 07: Trek from ChhatraKhola to Kothe (3,691m/12,109ft): 6-7 hours
  • Day 08: Trek from Kothe to Thaknak (4,358m/14,297ft): 3-4 hours
  • Day 09: Trek from Thaknak to Khare (5,045m/16,486ft): 2-3 hours
  • Day 10: Trek from Khare and acclimatization and pre–climb training
  • Day 11: Trek from Khare to Mera High Camp (5,780m/18,958ft): 6-7 hours
  • Day 12: Climbing Mera High Camp to Summit (6,461m/21,1907ft) and back to Khare (5045m/16,547ft) 8-9 hours

  • Day 16: Trek back from ThuliKharla to Lukla via Zatrwa La pass: 6-7 hours
  • Day 17: Fly to Kathmandu and farewell dinner at night
  • Day 18: Final departure to your own destination

A warm welcome to mountainous country, Nepal. Upon arrival our Southcol Adventures representative will greet you at the TIA airport and take you to the hotel.
 

    Our trekking leaders will meet you in the hotel and check your trekking and climbing equipment and their conditions and suggest you buy or rent the necessary kits from the trekking shops in Thamel.
     

      We will take an early morning flight to Lukla. After reaching lukla airport we will have time to stroll around while sorting out porters and baggage, we kick-off our trek walking through the forested pathway, crossing the Handi khola bridge and with few hours of trekking, we reach Surke Village where the team will have a short relaxing break. We, then, move ahead facing south and extend across the Chutok La Pass to get to Paiya, well known as Chutok(28,00m), the ultimate spot of the day to stay overnight.
       

        We proceed our trail walking down the hill and then we move across small wooden bridge. Now, you need to be a bit catious as you have to pass through treacherous route until you traverse the Kari La Pass. Following the narrow maountain trail along with rhododendron and bamboo forests, Dhudh Koshi river banks, We stop our trek today at a very authentic farming village, Panggom(2846m) where we stay overnight.
         

          After  breakfast, we resume our journey passing accross Panggom La Pass, then we ascend facing north. After crossing Peseng Kharka khola, we will hike to Peeng kharka Danda. Passing through Ningsow Khola, the trail lead to the final spot, Ningsow village where we stay overnight.

            Trial continuous climbing up and down to get to the Ramailo Danda, where we will witness the mesmerizing views of Mera Peak and Salpa.  Hiking through frequent uphill and downhill path, the trail will take you to the Makalu Barun National Park. From this point, we follow Pasang Lhamu trail upto Chhatra Khola.  If we are fortunate, we may have an opportunity to see the exotic Red Panda, on the route to Chhatra Khola. Overnight at Chhatra Khola.

              As we head towards the Mera Peak, we keep on trekking facing the Northern side. After crossing the Majang Khola, we follow the route along with Hinku Khola. Moving straight ahead, the trial will take you to the Tashing Ongma, where you will take a breather. Having seasonal tea shops around, being located in the high point, it offers peaceful  and awe-inspiring mountain vistas. We resume our journey, pass over the Sanu Khola to get to Kothe for staying the night.

                Facing the Mera Peak mountain directly in front, we hike along the ridge of Hinku Khola. Upon chasing our destiny, we take our lunch after reaching Gondishung. One the way ahead we will visit an ancient monastery called Lungsumgba Gompa, which has carvings of Mera Peak and its route on the rocks. After walking further, shortly, we reach Thaknak, which is our stopping point of today's trek.

                  During the trek from Thaknak to Dig Kharka we will pass through the rocks and debris carried by Dig Glacier. The beautiful landscape along with the spectacular view of Mt. Charpate and other peaks will almost overwhelm you. After leaving Ding Kharka, the trail ascends through the moraines of the Hinku Nup and Shar glaciers and then, start to hike more steeply to reach Khare. Witness the amazing northern face of Mera Peak being in Khare where we take rest tonight.

                    Today is an acclimatization and preparation day before the summit. Though, we take rest to get our body relaxed after a long enduring journey, and to remain active, we opt to do short and exciting hike to Khare Ri(5000m). Our climbing leaders will  guide you in learning basic climbing techniques, rope climbing methods,  and  demonstrate the effective way of utilizing the climbing kits, such as ice axe, carabiner, harness and ascender climbing boots. Overnight stay at the teahouse in Khare.
