Born in Sindhupalchok, Umesh Raj Giri is a highly experienced trekking and tour specialist who has spent more than 15 years working in Nepal's adventure tourism and mountaineering industry. Over the course of his career, he has developed exceptional field expertise, strong leadership abilities, and a profound connection with the Himalayas.
Umesh began his professional career in river rafting in Nepal and India, gaining valuable experience in adventure tourism before moving into trekking and Himalayan climbing. His diverse background has helped him develop a broad understanding of outdoor adventure, group management, and the unique challenges of operating in demanding natural environments.
As a highly experienced trekking guide, Umesh has extensive knowledge of high-altitude trekking, technical climbing, and Himalayan expedition operations. He has successfully climbed Island Peak and several other Himalayan peaks in the 6,200–6,500-meter range, strengthening his practical understanding of high-altitude environments, mountain routes, acclimatization, and expedition safety.
A Government of Nepal licensed trekking guide, Umesh has also completed various professional training programs and relevant certifications from recognized institutions. Fluent in English, he communicates confidently with international travelers and is particularly appreciated for his ability to explain routes, local culture, mountain conditions, and safety procedures in a clear and engaging manner.
For more than 14 years, Umesh has been leading groups through Tibet and the sacred Kailash region, where his extensive regional knowledge and experience have made him a trusted guide for cultural and high-altitude journeys.
